December 3, 2014 (Washington, D.C., USA)

This morning when we woke up we packed and then walked over to Evergreens off Times Square and had a totally tasty breakfast: Belgian Waffles with fresh berries for me and a bowl of fruit and a cinnamon roll for Sam. We then walked to Penn Station dipping into stores along the way. It was a grey and damp day in NYC and that was the view out the window as we took the Ascela Train to Union Station, Washington, DC. At the Station we hopped a taxi to our hotel and then walked to the SPY Museum. Sam and I both enjoyed the many interactive exhibits, including the James Bond exhibit. It was interesting to read about espionage and the important role it has played in our country’s history.

After the Spy Museum we hopped in a taxi to Bethesda and visited Sandra Litsinger, my high school friend.  I hadn’t been to her home in years and fun to see her girls and enjoy a dinner by candelight, since the power strangely went out right before we got there. We roasted marshmallows by the fire and got caught up. It was nice to hear that there had been such an outpouring of love and support after the passing of her father last week. We looked at some photos she had of her father, who was a big part of our growing up as friends of Sandra’s, he will be missed. It was a nice to see her at home with her children and visit. Shortly after the power came back on Sam and I said our goodbyes and headed back to the hotel. Big US history day tomorrow.
