June 19, 2015 ( Wroclaw, Poland)

We left Malaga at 4:30 a.m. to catch our nonstop flight on Ryanair. As we were leaving there several people just coming in from the night, including one in hospital clothes and still drunk. Yuk! The hotel was honestly a little too party and cheap, it claimed 4 stars but no way more than a 3, maybe 2 star in my opinion, but it was right next to the beach and had a great view of the ocean, it's two redeeming factors.

Ryanair was honestly a bit of a nightmare. You have to get there 2 hours before, they close the baggage claim an hour before and the boarding 40 mins before. Yet although everyone was there and ready, they boarded late and then NONE of the seats recline, they are the basic of basic and yes granted I paid $600 less than another flight going to Wroclaw from Malaga, it was still a nightmare, especially when it is so early and you are SO tired.

We got to our hotel in Wroclaw and begged them to let us have any room available so we could go lay down. We got a nice room and just went and rested for 3 hours before Kendall arrived. Good thing we did, she was raring to go and so excited to see this area, her favorite area of her mission. As soon as she set her bags in the room we were out the door. We went right to the Rynek, main square in Wroclaw and walked all over town to her old apartment, where they met for church, tasted Kendall's favorite Polish treats, saw tons of gnomes (the city has dozens of little bronze statues all over),  took the trolley (her main way of getting around) and then met up with one of the girls she had taught on her mission and who had joined the church. Tamara was very cute a college student originally from Azerbaijan  and so fun for Kendall to see her. We had dinner together at one of Kendall's favorite places to eat when she lived here. We then went to her favorite ice cream shop. It was fun to visit with Tamara and hear her conversion story and what she is up to now, as a student in Poland. That night we were so tired and went to bed I think the first time before midnight this whole trip.  Everyone slept nearly 11 hours. Felt so good.

I was blown away with Wroclaw. Exceeded my expectations on every level. The Rynek had the most beautiful buildings all lined up next to each other, each colorfully painted and each like a gingerbread house facade, like they were stage fronts. Some of the colorful homes and unique designs were very much like what we had seen in parts of Germany. There is a river that winds through the city and so there are dozens of bridges and creates almost islands. They seem to have great public transportation and several universities so it is a young town and had many small restaurants everywhere and lovely small parks sprinkled throughout the city. I honestly liked it as much as Prague but seemed a more manageable size and more walkable. I can see why Kendall loved this city.
