After a fitful night sleep and worried about the weather and flying to Singapore, I woke at 5:30 am to finish packing and order breakfast before we had to leave at 6:30. After saying goodbye to our driver Made who had been wonderful with Sila Tours and a total deal for a week with a personal driver, we flew to Singapore. When we arrived at the hotel we were graciously greeted by the staff and our friend Eunice who we met in South Africa on the Rovos Rail. She is a riot- kind of like my mother Nancy - although they are both fire crackers, they are both one of a kinds. We were shown to a lovely room in a great location right across from the main shopping area in Singapore. Too bad we don’t have time or space for shopping. We grabbed a bite to eat with Eunice at the pool restaurant and then immediately headed out on our tour of Sentosa Island. We were able to see the Under Water World small aquarium and then the dolphin show. The Cable Car over to Sentosa Island gave us a good idea of looking back at the city and all that was at Sentosa. It is a bit like Disneyland with lots of things to do. The Dolphin Show was filled with pink dolphins, which I have never seen before. They along with the seals put on a great show. I am not sure why these dolphins are pink but they also looked a little different with a different dorsal fin.
Following we made our way to the Luge Track. Sam and I raced several times, it is a faster track then the one in Queenstown and it was so much fun. We kept riding the lift back up and wanting to race once more. Sam held a huge Boa while we waited for the laser light show- Wings of Flight. Holy Smokes!! Nearly tied the Rockets Christmas Spectacular as my favorite show I have ever seen. There are a series of almost triangles that are attached to a framework with water jets and laser lights that once the show begins the whole stage is lit up with laser lights and lasers spray images on the water that is being shot out of devices and essentially making a water screen. It was so beautiful with all kinds of different spectacular light shows of colors and patterns. Sam and I were both freaking out it was so amazing.
Back at the Marriott hotel we were so exhausted but hungry and decided to try to hotel's award winning Chinese restaurant. They brought out a special dish that is only served during the time of Chinese New Year, which it is right now and it was a salad made from all kinds of shaved vegetables and roots and each part of the salad has special symbolism. It is a salad only served in Malaysia and Singapore and it was SO delicious with a plum sauce dressing. We loved the rest of our meal and immediately after retuning to the room Sam fell asleep and I stayed up finishing up my blogs and trying to post, but I keep falling asleep! Headed to bed. Busy busy day tomorrow!
We'd be luging... again. Loved this one even more since it was faster than Queenstown's. We tied 2 races to 2 races.
Sam has become snake friendly, he asked me...would you rather we have a snake or a cat. Believe it or not I said a snake!
The symbol of Singapore a lion headed mermaid
Wings of Time Laser Show- INCREDIBLE!
Delicious traditional Chinese New Year salad
Final Sunrise in Bali
Headed in Cable Car over to Sentosa Island
The coolest things we saw in Under Water World that we have never seen before. So many amazing creatures in the sea!
