I am so tired that I am falling asleep doing blogs tonight. We are finally in a new hotel which has internet - yippee! We have had one night of internet in 2 weeks. Raffles is our new digs and I am not going to lie, they are amazing and I am so grateful. I am so happy to be under a comforter and have normal AC and it doesn't hurt that the view and room are just amazing. We checked in early this morning and were met at the hotel by the scuba group. We went out for our first real scuba dive today. OH MY HEAVENS!!!!! Who knew?!! The fish and coral and sea life we saw was spectacular. I was honestly a bit nervous since I hadn't been on a real dive outside the lake before. We wore thin 3 mm suits and the water was so warm and crystal clear- bright blue. We went to a place called Ave Maria and had an hour dive at around 30-50 feet. There was so much to see. I was a bit worried about losing Sam and so I was twirling around looking for my buddy a lot of the time, but I couldn't believe how spectacular this dive was. I saw eels, large fish, sea turtles, and Sam saw octopus and the guy with us saw a shark. There was so much to see, along with huge schools of fish. I wish I could talk to point out all the things I was seeing to Sam and visa versa. We loved it and I only got a little sick when we came up and then swishing around in the waves waiting to get into the boat where I felt motion sick. We loved it so much that tomorrow we are going to go again!
When we got back to the hotel we were shown our room- off the hook with our little pool and huge balcony and panorama ocean views and a short walk to the pool and beach. We made our way down to the pool and had a tasty lunch- I had to have the watermelon feta salad again and some tasty pumpkin soup. Sam and I snorkled around off the beach and could see lots of fish, despite the fact that water was a bit turned up today. We played paddle ball on the beach and had a real vacation day. We had done a lot of exploring this trip and new things, inlacing our scuba this morning and it was so nice to just have a full relax afternoon without thinking much of anything. This evening we enjoyed dinner at the hotel and had delicious grilled lobster and homemade pasta. Sam is a great dinner date and we love to talk about our day at dinner. We felt truly spoiled today, very grateful for it. Tomorrow we dive again and then might rent bikes and go down to another amazing beach or go hike and look for the black parrot in the middle of the island and the 45 lb coco de mers that are like HUGE coconuts that grow on palms in the middle of the island. We will definitely do that before we leave.
