This morning I packed up while Cornelia was nice enough to make us some breakfast. She was worried about her job and what she needed to do to appease the government so that she could stay doing her job. After dropping off my cool traditional Zimbabwe mask and baskets, we went headed over to the animal snake, reptile, rescued animal spot. There we leafed about many of the snakes and sam as able to hold a tiger snake and a pretty big python. He loved playing with the squirrel that was in one cage. He kept licking sam’s fingers. We learned about a teenage male bull elephant that was shot today that had been terrorizing the neighborhood and last night horned several cars and banged up some and then kept trying to step on people. Sadly it was shot it sounds like by a man that has two small children. Cornelia was relieved to know it wasn’t the elephant that comes to her house, he s just eating, but not destroying anything other than plant life but not danger. ‘
Around 11:15 we caught a TERRIBLY turbulent plane where at one point I was sure I was going to barf up my intestimnes. I was SO sick. I didn’t think to take any dramamine since the last bush plane was no big deal, other than the door didn’t shut, which was likely an answer to an unknown prayer since i had cold air blowing on my face the whoel time I didn't get a hint of sickness. We landed on another deserted airship and were met by Owna who is our guide for the next several days and evenings. We are staying at Kanana Camp in the Okavenga Delta. It is very night. We are in nice tents on platforms but with all the conveniences, including a shower and some electricity but again no internet and no cell service. We have had no internet for several days now and will be almost a week by the time we get it.
This evening we went out on a game drive and saw two lions, a male who was rolled on his back slepeping and a female who was alert. The male we came across suddenly and when we cmd around he sat right up and it scared me half to death since we were 2 feet away. It does make you thnk what keeps us safe and him not attack us. But apparently that the size of the truck seems large and that our small is masked by the gas and oil smel. We have found we are totally hooked on birds as well, it is a nice addition to things that we obviously want to see. It was so hot when we went out today, we are feeling pretty tired but we feel we must rally for dinner at 8 p.m. and then tomorrow we weill do a relaxing ride in the dug out canoe and then afternoon a sun down boat ride which should be really cool. We have decided though that the day ager tomorrow we are taking the day off and getting caught up and I have to learn a math lesson since we wont have interent for a while.
Well the crickets and other insects outside our tent it’s hard to imagine. We will be ready for a good night sleep after our dinner. After dinner, we attacked the numerous wall spiders and cockroaches that were in our tent to our serious anxiety and dismay and then tried to go to sleep!
