Bummer, I had written in my blog on my phone last night and fell asleep while doing it and it all erased :( But quick recap about the 23rd. We had a really successful day teaching. We did the colors and games and a song and an art project tied to it and it went so smoothly. The kids love to sing and they love the games. We taught them the Rainbow song and their colors. We played a game like cake walk but just had to identify the colors when the music stopped. We would sing the Rainbow song and at the end of it we would call out a number and they would have to run and stand on the color or touch it on the wall where we also put extra colored papers. We then had them color a rainbow in the order of how the Rainbow song goes so they could remember their colors and the song. It went so so smoothly and the class loved it and loved to color. We kept giving each other the nod that this was a winner day :) At the end of class we again visited with the kids and then headed back to the home base.
After lunch we shared with the in country directors about how our week had gone. It was all pretty positive. We then headed into town with one of the CCS drivers. He took us to a few places and one of the spots Sam and I went exploring and found some little paintings we liked. I worked my hand on negotiating and had to play the walkaway game until they came down to a reasonable price. Sam was cute, he gave me the nod and wink acknowledging that I had done a good job when we finally got them down.
In the evening we decided it was time to get off campus and have dinner and go to town. We ended up going with a couple of the longer term volunteers. Sam was craving Pizza so we went to an Italian place called 10 To 10. Had a taste of Tanzania with the taxi being an hour late and then about 1.5 hours to get our pizza. It tasted ok but on Friday my stomach just churned and was upset. So not sure if it was worthy of going out again. But, like everything we chalked it up as a "cultural experience".
Almost fell asleep again last night without a shower and then forced myself in the shower since it was so hot and so hard to sleep all sticky. Did a quick shower and then passed out, although a restless night sleep since my stomach was a bit messed up. The day was honestly a bit of a strange one and glad to go to sleep. Several things had also happened at the home front with some volunteers and so it left a bit of a weird feeling and it was just good to call the day a day.
